South East Tuscaloosa
South East Tuscaloosa generally refers to the area of Tuscaloosa south of Loop Road and Old Birmingham Hwy, east of McFarland Boulevard, and it includes the neighborhood of Woodland Forest as well as the community of Cottondale, which is located at the far eastern edge of Tuscaloosa.
Attractions:
There are several attractions in this area of Tuscaloosa. The Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located on a beautiful campus of 125 acres with 25 major buildings, provides primary care, long-term health care and mental health care services to eligible Veterans in the VA Southeast network. The University of Alabama Arboretum is a 60-acre arboretum that includes 2.5 miles of walking trails, a wildflower garden, an experimental garden, a bog garden, an open-air pavilion, a children’s garden and two greenhouses. Bowers Park is a large park also located in South East Tuscaloosa that is used for local recreational events. Woodland Forest Country Club is located here, as well as Woodland Lake and Patton Lake

Located in South East Tuscaloosa is McFarland Mall, which includes a few restaurants and shops including Books A Million, T.J. Maxx, and Dillards. Construction is beginning soon to reconstruct most of this mall to add some more popular options.
